How to Create TrustistTransfer Payment Presets

Payment presets let you create repeatable payment requests that customers can use again and again.

They are useful when you regularly take the same type of payment, or when you want to share one QR code or PayLink with multiple customers.

For example, you could use a payment preset for:

  • A fixed-price product or service
  • Donations
  • Event payments
  • Booking fees
  • Membership fees
  • Payments where customers choose from a list of amounts
  • Payments where customers enter their own amount

Before You Start

Before creating a payment preset, decide:

  • What you want to call the preset
  • What text you want customers to see
  • Whether the customer should enter their own amount
  • Whether you want to offer one or more fixed amounts
  • Whether you need to collect the customer's name
  • Whether you need a comments box
  • Whether VAT should apply, if VAT rates are set up on your account

If you are a charity, foundation, or CIO using GBP, you may also be able to enable Gift Aid.

1. Open Payment Presets

Sign in to TrustistTransfer.

From the payment screen, go to Other Ways To Take Payments.

Select Preset Payments ».

This opens the Payment Presets page.

2. Create a New Preset

Select Create New ».

This opens the Create Preset page.

You will need to enter a Payment Preset Name.

This name is for you and your team, so make it easy to recognise later.

Good examples include:

  • Standard Consultation
  • Event Ticket
  • Donation
  • Booking Deposit
  • Membership Fee

3. Add the Customer-Facing Text

You can enter:

  • Title Text
  • Subheading Text

This is the text your customer sees when they open the preset payment page.

Use clear wording so the customer understands what they are paying for.

For example:

  • Title Text: Pay Your Booking Deposit
  • Subheading Text: Please complete your payment to confirm your booking.

The subheading is optional.

4. Set the Payment Amounts

In Set Payment Amounts, choose how the customer will enter or select the amount.

You can use:

  • Custom amount entry
  • One fixed amount
  • Multiple fixed amounts

Custom Amount Entry

Turn on Custom Amount Entry if you want the customer to enter their own amount.

This is useful for donations, part payments, tips, or variable invoices.

One Fixed Amount

Select Add Amount and enter the amount.

If you only add one amount, the customer will use that amount for the payment.

This is useful for fixed-price products or services.

Multiple Fixed Amounts

Select Add Another to add more than one amount.

If you add multiple amounts, the customer can choose the amount that applies to them.

This is useful for things like ticket types, donation levels, or service options.

Custom Amount and Fixed Amounts Together

You can use custom amount entry and fixed amounts together.

This gives customers suggested amounts while still allowing them to enter a different amount if needed.

5. Choose a VAT Rate

If VAT rates are set up on your account, you will see a VAT rate selection section.

Choose the VAT rate that should apply to payments requested using this preset.

If you are not sure which VAT rate to use, check your VAT settings or speak to the person who manages your accounting.

6. Choose What Customer Details to Collect

You can choose whether to collect extra information from the customer.

The available options are:

  • Collect Payer Name
  • Comments Box

Turn on Collect Payer Name if you want the customer to enter their name on the payment screen.

Turn on Comments Box if you want the customer to add a note or reference.

This can be useful for invoice references, booking names, order notes, or donation messages.

7. Enable Gift Aid

Gift Aid is only shown for eligible GBP charity-style accounts, such as charities, foundations, or CIOs.

If Gift Aid is available on your account, you can turn on Gift Aid.

This allows donors to provide the details needed for you to claim Gift Aid.

Only enable Gift Aid if it applies to the payments you are collecting.

8. Save the Preset

Once you have finished setting up the preset, select Save Preset ».

The preset will be added to your Payment Presets list.

9. Share a Preset Payment

From the Payment Presets page, choose the preset you want to use.

You can share the preset by QR code or PayLink.

To share quickly from the list, select the share icon next to the preset.

You will see a QR code that customers can scan.

You can also select Share PayLink » to send the payment link by message, email, or another app.

10. Take a Payment from a Preset

Open the preset from the Payment Presets list.

Select Take Payment ».

A QR code will be shown on screen.

Ask the customer to scan the QR code, or use Share PayLink » to send them the payment link.

When the customer opens the link, they will see the preset payment page. They can then continue through the normal TrustistTransfer payment process.

11. Edit a Preset

To edit a preset, open the Payment Presets page.

You can either:

  • Select the edit icon from the preset list
  • Open the preset and select the pen icon

Make the changes you need.

When you have finished, select the tick icon to save the changes.

You cannot take a payment from the preset while it is still in edit mode.

12. Delete a Preset

To delete a preset, select the bin icon.

You will be asked to confirm that you want to delete it.

Select Yes only if you are sure.

Deleting a preset cannot be undone.
